The Gainesville Skin Cancer Center
elcome to The Gainesville Skin Cancer Center at Serenola Plantation in Gainesville, Florida. This unique clinic was created by Charles B. Stoer, M.D. and opened in 1998. Dr. Stoer’s vision was to provide a comfortable homelike setting reminiscent of rural “Old Florida” for his skin cancer patients. Our medical office has won the top City Beautification Award as well as being featured in the UF educational booklet: Creating an environmentally Friendly Landscape.
The 9 acre grounds bordering Payne’s Prairie are home to wild turkey, deer, osprey and assorted wildlife often seen from the screened back porch or operative suites. The spacious waiting room with couches and recliners allows family members to sit comfortably during the patient’s surgery or while pathology specimens are being analyzed. Some patients prefer to stroll the grounds during these waits. A kitchen with coffee, bottled water and snacks is provided for the patient’s convenience.
